To make sure that we keep all of the pet’s that visit us safe, we require specific vaccinations and preventatives. Please see the information below concerning the vaccinations required for each of our services.
Grooming Vaccine/Preventions
Vaccination Requirements: DA2PP (aka DHPP or DHLPP) and Rabies. We strongly suggest that your dog have a Bordetella vaccine and be on current heartworm and flea prevention. However, for a groom with immediate pick-up this is not a requirement. Nonetheless, you make this decision at your dog’s own risk. Although we take every precaution we can, if your dog is not vaccinated, there is still a risk. Dogs over the age of 10 must have at least a current Rabies vaccine and the last DA2PP must have been given at 8 years or older.
Boarding or Day Board and Groom Vaccines/Preventions:
Vaccination Requirements: DA2PP (aka DHLPP or DHPP), Rabies, and Bordetella. Dogs over the age of 10 must have Rabies and Bordetella with last DA2PP given at 8 years or older.
Heartworm Prevention: For the protection of all boarders, flea and heartworm prevention is required for all dogs. All it takes to transmit heartworms is a mosquito and an infected dog. Sadly, heartworm infections are often not evident until the end stages of the disease. It is not worth it to put other dogs in danger and so we require this precaution.
Flea prevention: If you do not have your dog on a current flea prevention, we will require that he/she get a Capstar upon arrival. Capstar is a fast acting/short retention medication that will kill all fleas on an animal over a 24 hour period. After 24 hours, the medication is out of the dog’s system. Even if fleas are not seen, a Capstar is required when a pet is not on a flea preventative. If fleas are seen, the dog will be bathed at the owner’s expense. It is important to us to keep our facility flea free. No one wants to bring their dog to a location that has a flea infestation.
Training Vaccines/Preventions
Vaccination Requirements: DA2PP (aka DHPP/DHLPP), Rabies, and Bordetella.
Required Preventions: Flea. This is to make sure that your dog does not pass fleas on to other dogs in their class or leave them in the training room. Training does not require heartworm prevention. Nevertheless, heartworm prevention is strongly recommended.
